Inspired by 50s Sci Fi with a modern pop twist, this exhibition consists of
works executed in texta, pencil on paper and acrylic on board. Josh Lord
takes complex images which extend from war zones to pop culture and
simplifies them to make a strong, emotional, thought-provoking impact with
an individual style. A straight to the point and savvy realistic
understanding of the world around us, the world around him, which truly
makes us ask, what’s next? How do we see the future? Space shuttles touring
down the runways of airports offering day trips to mars? Will our
predictions be like the ones made in the past? How far off the mark will we
be? Where are art and music going? How will the new censorship laws affect
us? Where are we going?
The art is fearless.
Throughout the exhibition is a small collection of work for sale which has
been taken from his sketch books, giving a glimpse into Lord’s thoughts
and ideas in the studio and travelling around the world.
A veteran of the arts scene at home and internationally, with a career
spanning more than a decade and a half, Lord has numerous grants, solo and
group shows and commissions to his credit, This exhibition, In the shape
of things to come is giving us a taste, leaving us to suspect this is just
the start, and with a sense of anticipation about what is to come.
